RL Jones' Ghostyhead has arrived - another example of a songwriter who tries out electronica styles to give a new slant to her writing. I think it comes off very well.

Sad to hear that Yusef Lateef has died. He was in his 90s and besides the jazz, the flute and the double reeds, he had some success as a composer. He was also a pioneer of world music too.

I have bought an album by another pioneer who died this year - Bruce Morris. He invented the technique of conduction.

I have been listening to albums that Freddie Hubbard made around 1970 with great bands which included Hhancock, Ron Carter, George Bension, J DeJohnette.
