The CD of Boulez Rituel has arrived and I have listened to it through a couple of times. It is his attempt to tackle longer form. I am slowly working through the chapter about it in Goldman.
Gilbert is in the South of France where he will do a couple of concerts with an excellent female vocalist.
The Coltrane Omnibook has arrived which contains a lot of material. I tracked down Russian Lullabye from Soultrane. I think this maybe one of the recordings that led to the coining of the phrase 'sheets of sound'. Looking at the transcription of the solo it sticks pretty closely to the changes but the solo is extremely fast and unrelenting.
