It was off to Cafe Oto again last night for the first in the 2012 series of Wire Salons. Tony Haward presented his vision of the future of music. He started with some grand theory defining the character of music -a very broad definition which allowed for new kinds of music to emerge and which also covered varieties of music in different cultures. He illustrated his thesis with examples of new music - for example a groove piece where the lead line was taken by a new-for-then synth voice. I have ordered his book from Amazon. CO was pretty full which was surprising given it was the first Salon in the series.

There are three new tunes in the Widget at the top of the page. We have entered the London Classical top 50 on Reverbnation.
