Back ache has appeared not usually an issue with me. More about the Smiths.

The Velvets flirted with the effects of distortion and feedback, but the MC5 based their entire sound on them. They had consciously assimilated the precepts of free-jazz pioneers like Albert Ayler and John Coltrane and now sought to place their innovations in a "rock" setting....

This is Lenny Kaye description of one of Fred and Pattis performance at a June 1980 benefit for Detroit's symphony orchestra at the Masonic Temple in Detroit:

The first part was Patti reading poems from her book....Fred "Sonic" [Smith] and Patti came out and they lowered a screen, and on the screen they showed a film of a Jackson Pollock painting. They turned a guitar on to feedback, leaned it up against the amp, and they played -- Fred on saxophone and Patti on clarinet ... it was real, actual improvisatory jamming, and as the soundtrack to this Jackson Pollock film was very, very heavy...

I did some more maths on the Dream Chord if 12 is the fundamental then 16 17 18 and 19 are ratios which give a pretty good chromatic scale from F through to Ab. All of these notes are much closer to equal temperament than the ratio of five over six which Gilbert and I use in the piece One Point Two one of the longer stories. Lamont says in the interview that he doesnt like any of the third intervals in his world these are ratios using the number 5 like one point two or 6 over 5. Nineteen over 12 is third related its a minor sixth.. An alternative would be 19/16 which is 1.1875 quite a gap between that and 1.2

Its Womens Art Festival here in GFD theres an installation on the hill behind the house thirty red wigwam like structures illuminated in the dark quite close to the Saxon coppice. They look pretty good to me, especially in late twilight.

I have just played the first few tracks on the Doors Break on Through what an opening.

Vita has gone to Freiburg for a week a German exchange. She left at 5.00am this morning, understandably nervous.

I put a worrying item up on www.kwase-kwaza.news where Claire Short explained why the UK is holding back from the Global Fund they have obviously all gone quite mad.

This current week on kwase-kwasa looks like its going to be the second highest this year. You cant beat having new content. About 60% of the traffic is from general Ids and of the countries the UK takes over half the remainder leaving around 15% for other nationally specified users.Within that a third comes from the following Canada, Belgium, Italy and South Africa. I think there is quite a big ND following in Italy which brings in the business. This page is about ninth in the ranking of referring sites.

There is a really interesting article which I have just posted from the Guardian by Jonathan Friedland on national sovereignty and intervention in Iraq. Have a look at it and boost the stats.
