A picnic at Sarah and Geoffery's in the orchard at the back of their house in Kent made for a very lazy day. Rob turned up eventually after having watched Fulham play the first match of the season. I thought I might jam with Geoffery but it was too hot for that. James and Vita came along and with Yvonne they played lots of tennis and croquet. This is pretty much an annual event to celebrate Sarah's birthday.

It felt as if it was slightly out of time. A fox turned up towards the end of proceedings.

I talked to Geoffery about the history of the rabbit in this part of the world. Amongst his many talents he is a local historian and bibliophile. He has the definitive history of the rabbit in the UK. He mentioned that the original name for a rabbit warren was "coneybury". Maybe the same as Coney Island in New York? He has been looking at local court records and has found an Elizabethan murder which took place when two bands of rabbit hunters crossed paths one night. He says he might put this in the next edition of his History of Halstead.

Yvonne got Jake to do some of the things he has learned at dogskool - he only half remembered the "fetch" routine which made everyone laugh.

Some WAVs arrived from Mark - the full BBC 500 mix plus one which just has Robin's beats and occaisional patches. They are both amazingly clean sounding - and very provocative. I am sure my stuff is never as well recorded as this.

I am cooking for guests to day plus several other tasks.
